Gratitude

Dear HBW Family,
WE MISSED YOU! As you might have noticed, we took an impromptu hiatus this winter. We took a step back to evaluate our goals, our ideas, and direction in this digital space. We are a fully-operational, student-led office at the University of Kansas that experienced great growth in 2016, but we still felt we weren’t doing quite enough to connect with you all.
So, what’s new for 2017?
Better Branding. For over 30 years, HBW has been a leader in research and inclusion efforts at multiple universities. Here at the University of Kansas we have continued this tradition by taking a major step to diversify the digital humanities (read more about our Black Book Interactive Project here). As a result we have grown conscious of the need to brand ourselves thoroughly and consistently. New logos and new promotional material are just a few steps we are taking.
Blog Redesign. After 3+ years we got a blog facelift. We’ve made this a more user-friendly and aesthetically pleasing experience for you. Checkout the new color scheme and fonts.
Conversations. Your voice is powerful and we want to hear more of it. This year you can expect more interactive conversations with the HBW staff through Facebook check-ins and Twitter chats.
More Content. We pride ourselves on bringing you perspectives from young scholars to seasoned ones, political commentators, and everyone in-between. With the ever changing social media landscape and 24-hour news cycle we know how important it is to bring you more content, more often, and we’ve expanded our blogging team to do just that. Likewise, we want to showcase more of your work. Look out for opportunities to submit original pieces for the blog.
We are excited for 2017 and hope you are, too! Your endless support of HBW over the years has been a driving force behind our work and we are forever grateful.
