Jennifer M. Wilmot is a PhD student in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at the University of Kansas. Hailing from Philadelphia, Jennifer holds a BA in English Literature and Communications, MA in English Literature, and MSEd in Teaching, Learning, and Leadership. Her scholarly interests include literature of the African Diaspora, exploring literacy as a basic civil right, critical literacies, and improving educational opportunities for students of color in the urban core. In her spare time, Jennifer loves to travel, attend concerts, spend too much money in used bookstores, and participate in the growing #HipHopEd movement on Twitter.
